James A Lawrence

Jim Lawrence joined Unilever in September 2007 as Chief Financial Officer. He was appointed an Executive Director of Unilever in May 2008.

Born on 18 October 1952 in Pennsylvania, Jim holds a BA in economics from Yale University, and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining Unilever, Jim was at General Mills which he joined as executive vice-president and chief financial officer in October 1998. From September 2000 to May 2006, Jim was responsible for the company's international business. On 1 June 2006 he was elected vice-chairman of General Mills, Inc.

Prior to joining General Mills, Jim held positions as executive vice-president of Northwest Airlines and president and chief executive officer of Pepsi-Cola Asia, Middle East, Africa. He was co-founder and chairman of The LEK Partnership, a corporate strategy and merger/acquisition consulting firm headquartered in London. Previously, he was a partner at Bain and Company and headed their London and Munich offices.

Jim is a non-executive director of British Airways Plc and serves on the Board of Overseers of the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota.
